Brighton anti-capitalist activists leave camp after tents are ravaged by bad weather and set alight
Their camp, in Victoria Gardens, was first hit by gale force winds that blew away many of their tents before others were destroyed by flames when a number of pallets caught alight.
A firefighter who attended the blaze was attacked and pushed to the ground by a number of troublemakers who were understood to have infiltrated the protest.
Following the incident, the remaining occupiers today packed up and left the site, with a cleaning team drafted in to tidy up the park.
The encampment had been set up in the city centre at the end of October as part of international anti-capitalist action. Read More
