Over 1,000 inmates fall ill from food poisoning at Osaka Prison, Japan
As the inmates began complaining of food poisoning symptoms on Tuesday night, the prison reported the matter to the health center on Wednesday morning. The inmates received treatment at the prison.
Osaka Prison holds around 2,500 male inmates and their meals are cooked in the prison's kitchen by about 40 inmates, who undergo monthly sanitary inspections.
The health center suspended the kitchen's operations for three days starting Thursday and the prison is temporarily serving preserved food for emergency use to inmates. Source
