Over 100 birds found dead in Payal block. India
The death of 7 peacocks and over 100 birds in Payal block in the past few days has put the forest officials on toes. The birds had reportedly died after consuming poisonous grains in the Payal forest area near the dera of Baba Balwant Das.
In the past few years, peacocks have died in large numbers in Uchi Daud village and Ladhowal area after consuming poisonous substances.
District forest officer Naresh Mahajan has got a police complaint registered against unknown persons.
He said, “12 birds were found unconscious, out of which 7 have died and 5 are recovering in Ludhiana Zoo.” Read More
