Deep Freeze On Roads As Snow Falls, Scotland

Freezing conditions overnight brought more problems to Scotland's roads with snow and ice leading to treacherous driving conditions.

Pedestrians also faced difficulties with black ice on pavements after temperatures dipped below freezing.

Major roads were closed at one stage because of jack-knifed lorries and a number of accidents.

Warnings were issued for high winds on the Skye Bridge, and icy and freezing conditions on the roads.

Inverness airport was closed at one stage, but is expected to reopen later.

Stornoway airport, Sumburgh airport and Kirkwall airport were also closed.
