According to the Utah County Sheriff's Office the mudslide occurred just after 2:00 p.m. about three miles up the canyon, just below Tinney Flats.
Officials said that two vehicles were passing through the area at the time of the slide, and one car sustained minor damage from the rocks. No one was injured.
The slide was 100 yards wide and about 4 feet deep with rocks, boulders and trees. The mudslide completely blocked the road.
Seventeen people and 5 vehicles were trapped above the slide. With the assistance of the Deputies on scene several people were able to walk out around the slide. Utah County Public Works crews were able to dig a channel through the slide to evacuate the rest of the individuals in the vehicles.
Officials have announced that the road will remain closed until further notice, due to the water and debris that are still creating hazardous conditions in the area.
