Terrifying ... huge wall of dust approaches Phoenix

THESE incredible pictures show a huge dust storm engulfing the US city of Phoenix last night.

The towering cloud - measuring 50 miles wide and 10,000 feet at some points - caused major disruption across the area.

Meteorologist Paul Iniguez said the cloud had formed following a storm near Tuscon.

Iniguez said: "This was pretty significant.

Massive ... dust cloud reached 10,000 feet high

"We heard from a lot of people who lived here for a number of storms and this was the worst they'd seen."

Nearly eight thousand people were left without power in the area and flights at Phoenix airport were grounded for the duration of the storm.
