Dutchsinse Roadtrip: New Madrid Seismic Zone (NMSZ) = FLOODED, several shots over 50 miles

Uploaded by on May 17, 2011

Below is a link to a google map showing the location where fields are flooded…. TO THE EAST of the line… and to the WEST.

The highway is washed, at Matthews, Missouri and the town is flooded at Miner…. there .. where we stayed.. the sandbags are piled…

The flood waters are going away quick.. right into the ground.. hmm .. thats a LOT of water weight on an already earthquake prone fault zone.

Quotes from locals:

“I have been farming 30 years and I’ve never seen weather (rain and hail) like this year”

“We’ve only been able to plant 200 out of 4000 acres of cotton this year”

“We haven’t been able to plant the beans yet this year, and those are time sensative so we can have them growing by late spring – early summer”

“… last wek we (the people of new madrid) had one storm that dropped 3 inches of rain and hail that made people exit from the highway to seek cover under our (semi truck station) roof”

“Cotton is already expensive.. and we just basically lost the whole crop down here”
